Analysis of the challenges posed by oil and gas supply prospects, volatile energy prices and rising emissions of greenhouse gases. Implications of the current financial crisis on the energy sector and the role Europe could play in shaping future international climate change policy and improving its own internal energy markets in the context of the recent Russia-Ukraine gas crisis.

The key results from the IEA's World Energy Outlook 2008 - the latest edition of the annual IEA flagship publication. It demonstrates that prospects for oil and gas production are becoming more uncertain due to accelerating declines in production and as a result of growing challenges to make timely and adequate investments. It also analyses policy options for tackling climate change after 2012, when a new global agreement - to be negotiated at the UN Conference of the Parties in Copenhagen - is due to take effect.
